Mixing nail brands & training

Posted by Desiree Carrigan on

Hi hope you are all doing great since opening back up.

I can't believe we are in October already,  what a quick year.... I have been doing some research, as there has been things that have been baffling me that I see on a regular occurrence in some of the nail forums I'm in.  So here goes...

MIXING BRANDS (GEL POLISH/HARD GEL/ACRYLIC)

My views on mixing brands, this is defo a no no for me, as most companies only test there own products to work together.  I don't want to put my clients at risk of allergic reactions and also putting my Name at risk if something goes wrong.   Anyway I wanted to double check what my insurance company had to say.  I contacted ABT Insurance and was very surprise to hear that you are covered to mix brands, but you must check with each manufacturer to make sure the brands are compatible.  If you do not have this in writing from the brands manufacturers then your insurances in not worth a thing... Lets be honest how are each brand going to know if they are compatible unless made in the same factory, and tested together.

If this is something you are doing please give your insurance company a call and double check. A quick phone call is all it takes to cover your own back.

If you are unsure what brand to go with contact each brand you would like to try and get trial kits this would be your cheapest way to try a new brand.

I also checked with ABT Insurance regarding a brand you have not trained with but want to use, this is absolutely fine with them, as long as you hold a qualification in the services.

Something I have always done when changing brands throughout the years, I done a conversion course as I wanted to know all there is to know about the brand I was using, but not necessary.

If there is anybody out there fully qualified looking to try Brillbird products and can get to Kirkintilloch, Im happy for you to come in and use my products to try before you buy. If you want to use on yourself or bring a model that is fine too.  I use the brand within my salon as I love it and the results i get are fantastic and my clients love it too.  Why would i not use the brand I love and train for on my clients.

Looking at the year ahead unfortunately I have no time left this year to run any beginners courses, but I am currently sorting dates for next year for my beginner courses.  So please follow Desiree's Nail Training instagram & facebook if you are considering a career change.

Interested in Brillbird brand check out brillbird_scotland_ instagram page and facebook.

So on that note I think I have said enough

Love Desiree x
