Count down to get back to salon

Posted by Desiree Carrigan on

Hey,

How is everyone doing? Hope you are all good!

Feeling good that I feel we are on the count down to re-opening now. Are you all ready to open?

I have been feeling a bit stressed last 2 weeks tho.. Im not a lover of paper work, which probably most of us aren't.  I've been getting my Risk Assessments done for re-opening, I've been working on a salon handbook and procedure lists for each treatment.  So I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all as I've never really had to have risk assessments written down due to having less than 5 staff in my salon.  Unfortunately due to COVID19, I feel they would be better written so all of us in my salon can work from same page and we all know where we are at. Its been a pretty stressful few weeks, and I am really ready to get back to work. I really wish the government would give us the proper guidelines hopefully not as bad as I am thinking it will be.

Salon nearly completed, once the painting gets finished and cleaning gets done, I have a local company coming into sort markings, thankfully we have a big floor space and do not require plastic sections up. I have also organised a fog clean to get done ready to open and get back to work.

I also recently purchased a one hose ventilation unit which is something I should have had a long time ago due to using E-File.  Heating & Ventilation Uk on facebook having just recently started selling them, its fab and it is a lot less than other companies, as they are fairly new to selling them so if this is something you are needing I would check them out before there price goes up.  I did check spec compared to other well known companies and they are the same, so win win.

Home life, my husband has just left to go back to work after being home for 3 weeks, so whilst he was home our daughter turned 16 so we had a great day celebrating out the back as it was a lovely day.  Too much drink in the 3 weeks when  he was home, but too be honest too much drink since the start of lockdown. Thankfully my daughter hasn't had much school work to do since all this which has been good for me as I'm not best at helping with school stuff, art yes but really thats about it.

My plans for next few weeks, finalise procedures, salon handbook, risk assessments and get them printed.  Work on nail designs for courses in the future.  Maybe start looking at dates for courses from about October but its really going to depend on how many of us can be in the salon at the one time as I might need to work the closed days until everything settles.

On that there really isn't much happening except trying to get ready for opening my salon back up.

Oh if anybody knows anywhere good for customer chairs at the nail bar, please let me know as Im looking for something other than computer chairs.

If anybody needs any help with getting ready to open back up feel free to drop me an email brillbirdglasgow@gmail.com and if i can help i will.  Check out facebook pages and instagram.

Have a great week
